The guys at Pure Purpose kindly sent me two of their coffee scrubs to try, the ‘Seaweed & Eucalyptus’ and the ‘Turmeric & Orange.’ These coffee scrubs can be bought in both the smaller size (40g) for £4.90 and the larger (180g) pouches for £13.50. I’ve used both the pouches several times now, and they’re not even running low – a small amount goes such a long way so I think the price is fairly reasonable for the quantity! Both the scrubs, and everything else on their website have all-natural ingredients, and they’re not testing on animals either!
To use, you have to wet your skin first, and then take a handful of the body scrub and massage in circular motions onto your skin. You should leave the scrub on for about 5 minutes and then rinse. I first used my scrub in the bath, and I would try to avoid this unless you’re prepared to clean out a brown bath tub. Obviously coffee can get pretty messy so I’d also avoid using white towels as I pretty much got coffee over my entire bathroom. It’s a lot easier to use it in the shower, and also easier to leave it on your skin for five minutes when youre in the shower rather than the bath. I’m going to review the two scrubs I received individually as they both claim to have different benefits.
Seaweed & Eucalyptus Coffee Body Scrub.
This scrub claims to be; exfoliating, anti-oxidizing, healing and moisturising. It also states it will ‘cleanse your skin and promote tissue regeneration to improve skin elasticity.’ After trying this scrub on different areas of my body I have found that this is PERFECT for using on my legs. Its preps my skin perfect for shaving, getting rid of any dry areas or pesky ingrown hairs. It’s also so moisturising that you don’t really need to moisturise after using it – which is always handy if you’re in a rush to get ready. It smells pretty strong of the eucalyptus which I find pretty neutral, and just reminds me of a smell I associate with pampering and relaxing! The consistency for both scrubs is very similar, much like ground coffee with added sugar to make it slightly more grainy. In warm water it melts a little leaving a brown tint to the area it is moisturised into.
Turmeric & Orange Coffee Body Scrub.
This scrubs benefits are; anti-aging, exfoliating, moisturising and should help with skin elasticity. It also contains Curcumin which is an antioxidant that helps with blemishes and uneven skin tone. I’ve been using this one lately on my face (I did check that this was okay for using on your face, and it is… just be careful to avoid eyes!) and it has been amazing. The first time I used it I was actually SHOOK at how glowing I was. I’m interested to see if using this 2-4 times a week (as recommended) will actually improve my skin entirely. Either way, I’m super happy with the fresh feeling it gives my face and the really natural glow. It also smells amazing, like a cross between coffee and chocolate orange… I almost want to drink this coffee orange mixture! Again, this was super moisturing too!
Overall I’m really impressed with both of these scrubs, but especially the Turmeric and Orange, I’m totally into anything that can make my face glow that much! They also have a couple of other scrubs and facial oils. The ‘Lemongrass and Wheatgrass’ scrub also sound amazing!
