Candies Cosmetics: First Impressions & Testing!

Candies Cosmetics Review

Hi all! It feels like a while since I’ve sat down and wrote a blog post. I feel like I’ve been so busy recently with holiday and moving away from university and moving back into my parents, however I’ve got quite a few posts coming up, and a special university series of blog posts too – so hopefully this will make up for the lack in content recently! Also on a slight side note – if you do want to stay up to date with what I’m doing over summer make sure you’ve added my snapchat ‘morecarriedaway‘ for day to day updates and reminders when I’ve uploaded new content!

So, today’s post is all about a cosmetics and skincare brand called Candies Cosmetics. I recently received a message from somebody who I went to school with, and she told me all about this brand which she has created and been working on with her mum, and asked if i’d like to try some of the products out. I love seeing people I know create new businesses and be so passionate about it, and I also love trying out smaller brands especially when it comes to things like beauty products – so I was really excited to test out some of the Candies products! Candies Cosmetics specialises in handcrafted soaps, skincare and nail polish.

I was kindly gifted an adorable box full with goodies! If you follow me over on Instagram (@carrie_pendle) you may have seen me do a quick unboxing of the products, if not, make sure you’re following me over on their to see more of my blogger mail unboxing! (Jeeez two self-promo’s in one post I need to calm down..)

The first thing that I was kindly sent was this deep moisturiser night face serum, specifically for dry skin. This honestly couldn’t have come at a better time; with the sunny weather on my holiday and now this riduclously hot heatwave that’s hit the UK my skin is drier than ever. I’ve only recently started using oils and serum as part of my night routine, but since I have I really I haven’t looked back. I’ll talk a little more about this product and how I use it in my ‘Summer Skincare Savouirs’ post which will be going live later this week, but without giving too much away this product is so good at giving a really intense moisture to my skin, and leaves me waking up feeling so pampered and smooth! I’ve also been using this in the day sometimes too (listen, rules were made to be broken) and I actually think it works really well as a morning oil too on hot summers days where I just need to give my skin a bit of a break and some moisture and love!

The second item I received was this charcoal and fine sea salt facial soap. First things first, how cute is this soap, I even love the name for it and the packaging and everything… this soap literally looks like the kind of soap you’d find in pictures of gorgeous bathrooms on Pinterest – if you know, you know. This soap is cold-pressed, vegan friendly, cruelty-free and palm oil-free, and although I’m not vegan I feel like I’m becoming far more concious of what is inside lots of my beauty products so was really pleased to see that this soap didn’t have anything nasty in it, and was cruelty free. Apart from its beautiful aesthetic, this little face soap smells really good, and I also think the charcoal in it may be helping clear up my skin a little bit.. bonus!

The second soap I received, and honestly just as gorgeous is this oatmeal and peppermint soap bar (I annoyingly held the soap so you could read the label, however the top is all swirly and multicoloured!) This soap is made with goats milk, which is an absolute game changer. There are so many benefits to using goat milk soap if you have dry or sensitive skin as it is so gentle and moisturising. This soap is sooo good for my skin, and I can honestly tell the difference after using it for just a few days. It also contains peppermint which is great for acne and clearing up your skin. Basically, this soap is a miracle worker and I urge everyone to try it immediately if they suffer with dry skin, acne or in general are just trying to keep their skin really hydrated. This is probably my favourite products I was sent, and for only £5.50 I cant recommend this enough!

The final trio of items I was sent were these three lip balms. You can imagine my reaction to receiving a gin & tonic lip balm?! And honestly, it smells just like gin & tonic it’s kind of weird but I love it. If you know somebody who loves a gin & tonic.. this would make the perfect little gift for only £2.80! The other two scent’s I received was the honey and green apple, and rose and peppermint – and this one is also vegan. The main thing I love about all of these products is how minimal the ingredients are. For example, in this gin & tonic lip balm the only ingredients are; Lemon infused Olive oil, Vitamin E Oil, Mango Butter, Gin & Tonic Scent and Bees wax. It honestly feels so good using products where I can identify all of the ingredients inside rather than not knowing some of them at all! This lip balm is so moisturising and definitely needed with this heat drying out my lips! I’ve only tried the gin & tonic scent as I didn’t want to have too many lip balms all on the go at once… and I am also trying to keep back some of the blogger mail and PR packages to create a bundle giveaway soon! So, make sure you keep your eyes peeled over on my social media channels if you’d like to try one of these!

If you’re interested in trying any of the products mentioned in this post, or fancy having a look at the other handcrafted products they sell head over to Candies cosmetics website linked here! (You won’t regret it – some of their soaps are the most beautiful things I have ever laid eyes on). You can also use the discount code ‘CARRIEDAWAY18’ for 10% off your shop! I’ve definitely got my eye on their moisturising facial cream, and of course buying bulk goats milk soap haha.

Thanks for reading, Carrie x

  1. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is required to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100 positive. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks dkedkbcfefbe
